The Uneeda Medical Supply model was part of a miniature diorama I built for the Encounter Terrain monthly modelling challenge. The theme for the challenge was “Is it Toxic?”
I wanted to create an iconic structure, so I decided to make Uneeda Medical Supply – as featured in the horror film ‘Return of the Living Dead.’ The movie plot is as follows: foreman Frank shows new employee Freddy a secret military experiment housed in a supply warehouse basement. The two klutzes accidentally release Trioxin gas that reanimates corpses into flesh-eating zombies.
As most of the ‘toxic’ action takes place in the building basement, I created a detailed interior that featured two of the principal scenes – the release of the Trioxin gas and the ‘Yellow Zombie’ attack. Detailing the basement was a great learning experience, and I may attempt similar projects in the future.
The model was built using 2 mm sheet styrene and 3D printed detail parts that I designed in Rhino 3D. This structure is one of five projects that I’m attempting to complete for each of the weekends in October in honour of the Hallowe’en season! Boo!
