The Subway portals are a freelanced design, using abs pipe fittings, zip ties, and styrene sheet stock. Painted with the same concrete coloured used on the rest of the layout, they were weather with a diluted India ink wash. A simple voltage reduction circuit powers flickering LEDs to create sparking electrical panels or an oncoming train. The finished portals were inset into the foam core retaining walls, the gaps were filled with drywall compound, and everything was painted, weathered, and finished with ground foam.
