Progress on the layout continues at a steady pace, and it’s apparent that the unweathered rolling stock sticks out like a sore thumb. The Tomix JNR Kiha 26 passenger train is a great running, dependable locomotive, but the factory colours are jarring. I wanted the train to appear as it had been neglected for decades, so I opted for weathering it with a very heavy-handed touch. I used a combination of craft store paint, and India ink washes to achieve the look I wanted. I’m reasonably pleased with the results, and this passenger set now blends in with the rest of the layout.
