I built an N Scale waterslide this month, complete with two flumes, scummy splash pads, and corrugated steel fencing.
Monthly diorama projects allow me to model a theme or tested technique that wouldn’t necessarily fit well with the current layout. Such as the case with this month’s build an abandoned water slide. I’m interested in abandoned amusement parks etc., and while I have seen a few HO scale fairground models, I’ve not seen anything for n scale, and I certainly haven’t seen anything for a water park. So, I attempted to build a pair of water slides.
The most challenging part of this build was the flumes. The individual slides twist and turn on top of himself, and I could not print them as a single piece with my PLA printer without complicated support structures. Therefore, I broke them into individual sections and reassembled them. In the video, I didn’t include using a hairdryer to soften the slides and bend them to fit as they lost their original shape as part of the gluing process.
I’m thrilled with this outcome, and I’m confident I will be attempting a roller coaster sometime soon. Stay tuned, and thanks for watching.
