Mushnik’s Flowers Shop from Little Shop of Horrors in N Scale

As I continue with my plan to release five Halloween-themed spooky projects for each weekend in October, this week, I present Mushnik’s Flower Shop from ‘Little Shop of Horrors.’

Construction was very straightforward, following the techniques/materials used for past projects; sheet styrene, kit parts, and 3D printed details. The difference with this particular project was using pistachio shells as Audrey 2’s flytrap face and polymer clay for tentacles. This is my first time using polymer clay, and I’m not sure if I can achieve and scale details utilizing the material as an alternative to 3D printing. Still, it is better/quicker for creating an organic object and was appropriate for the application I had in mind.

I’m thrilled with this bit of structure, and it makes me smile; I’ve always loved the movie, and I’m happy to have a hidden retro-horror detail on my layout.

  • Hello,

I was really impressed with the Little Shop of Horrors building you made using pistachios to make Audrey 2. We are hosting a fundraiser in March 2026 with this theme and I would really like to to see if I can recreate the building you made to as part of our centerpieces. Can you please tell me where you purchased the kit for the building, how much it cost, and approximately how long it took you to make.

I should point out that I have never done this before and do not have any of the supplies so I am starting form stratch.

I look forward to hearing form you.

    Scott

Hi. I purchased the kit from Outland models for $10 – modified it significantly – and spent about 20 hours building it.
